Community Desk
The Berkeley Public Library Social Services Program or 'Community Desk' is here to provide information, services, and referrals to assist community residents in need of public assistance. The Library has always strived to connect residents to information that meets their personal, educational, and professional needs. The Social Services program serves as an extension of this mission, seeking to put community members in touch with services outside the scope of the library and build upon the open and supportive environment fostered at the Berkeley Public Library.

How to Get Help
The Social Services Program is a safe space for any member of the community to get the help they need without fear or shame. NOTE: as of 4/27/2023, the Library will not have a social work intern available through the summer months. The Community Desk is a secure and confidential drop-in center for residents in need of services to speak with a library staff member. Residents can reach out via phone or email to schedule a meeting, either in-person or virtually over Zoom. We've also compiled a list of available local resources you can find under the Quick Links below.
