Food Insecurity

Food insecurity refers to anyone facing a lack of access to an adequate amount of food. If you are in need of food assistance, the organizations listed below can provide food at no cost and are located near the Berkeley area. The library’s intern can help you in contacting these agencies to verify their eligibility criteria as well as providing information on additional organizations working to address food insecurity.

Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry

   Hours: Monday 6:30pm-8pm, Thursday 1pm-4pm and 6:30pm-8pm, Saturday 9:30am-12:30pm.

   Eligibility: Residents of Berkeley, Elmhurst, Hillside and surrounding suburbs. Photo ID and current utility bill is needed.

   Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-2pm (delivery times).

   Eligibility: Resident of North Proviso Township, 60 years or older, unable to leave home for health reasons or physically              unable to prepares meals at home.
