Library Cards
Library cards for the Berkeley Public Library are available without charge to all residents of the Village of Berkeley, Illinois. You can register yourself for a digital library card by visiting the SWAN Libraries registration page. This digital library card will provide instant access to e-resources such as our databases and eBook lending. The next time you stop by our library in person, we can update this registration to a full library card.
Library cards in good standing are required for the loaning of materials, use of study rooms, select services, and may be required for special library events. To obtain a library card (or to update from a digital card), please visit the library with a photo ID and one additional form of identification (bank statement, lease, utility bill, or insurance card) showing your Berkeley, Illinois mailing address.
Individuals under the age of eighteen are required to have a parent or guardian's signature when applying for a card. Parents can optionally link a child's card and account to their own using the library catalog in order to monitor due dates for materials.
Berkeley Public Library cards never expire and are valid until the cardholder moves from the Village of Berkeley. Cards may be made inactive if not used for a period of three years. Borrowing privileges may be withheld from a patron if fines or other charges exceed $5.00. For additional information, please see our Circulation Policy.
